Our Rooftop Oasis

Thus far Washington DC has been a little overwhelming to say the least. Coming from Utah, this move was pretty drastic, but I think out of everything (including the lack of nature) the biggest adjustment has been getting used to the sheer number of people that are everywhere you turn. That being said, my favorite place that I have found in this city so far is the rooftop of our building. It is 13 stories up and even though it is still loud, it gets you far enough removed from the people that it feels calm and peaceful up there. And some days when the sun is out and there is just a slight breeze, you can close your eyes and it almost feels like you are at the beach...with the sound of traffic imitating the sound of the waves crashing on the shore!

P.s. As you can see, we have a McDonald's right next to us, so sometimes (like today) it smells more like the saltiness of french fries rather than the saltiness of seawater!
